Purpose |
The aim of this program is to broaden and deepen knowledge in a field based on undergraduate degree qualifications, as well as to provide the competencies of accessing information by conducting scientific research, evaluating, interpreting and applying information. In addition, this program is carried out as a formal education program. The aim of the education provided in the program is to raise students with high-level knowledge and skills regarding social studies education and to produce scientific knowledge that will contribute to the literature on the field of social studies education and guide practical applications. |

Content |
The Thesis Master's program in Social Studies Education is an educational program designed to train students with quality researchers in the field of social studies education. The thesis master's program consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, including the seminar course, and thesis work, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in one academic semester. The thesis program allows students to conduct scientific research by writing a thesis and defend their theses for graduation. |

Admission Conditions |
Having a bachelor's degree in the relevant field and at least 55 ALES (SÖZ) score. |

Program Outcomes |
Have expert level knowledge in the basic field of Social Studies teaching. Understands the interaction between the disciplines that make up the Social Studies course. Uses theoretical and practical knowledge at the expert level. It creates new knowledge by integrating the knowledge in its field with knowledge from different disciplines. Solve problems using scientific research methods. Independently constructs a problem in his field, develops and implements a solution method. Develops new strategic approaches and produces solutions in unforeseen complex situations that will be encountered in applications in the field of Social Studies. Evaluates information related to the field with a critical eye, directs learning and has the competence to carry out advanced studies independently. He conveys the current developments in the field of Social Studies and his own studies at different levels, in written, oral and visual form. Evaluates social relationships and their norms, improves them, and attempts to change them when necessary. He/she observes social, scientific and ethical values during the collection, interpretation and dissemination of data related to his/her field and has the competence to teach and supervise them. Can apply the knowledge and problem-solving skills he has absorbed in his field to interdisciplinary studies. It develops strategies, policies and implementation plans on issues related to the field of social studies and evaluates the results obtained within the framework of quality processes. |

Graduation Requirements |
Having completed at least 7 courses, seminar courses and thesis work, provided that they are not less than 21 credits. |

Graduate Employment Opportunities |
Graduates of the program can work as social studies teachers in public or private schools, or they can apply for a doctorate program in the field of Social Studies Education. |

Measurement and evaluation activities vary in courses. However; The weights are 40% midterm and 60% final. |
